It has been said that humanity learns precious little form the lessons of history, and thus repeats the same mistakes repeatedly throughout the ages. Those of Yankee persuasion as well as Southern scalawags, contribute to the problem through their persistence in tearing away at the foundations of Confederate history, heritage and culture. The true status of the Confederate States of America is that of an occupied and subjugated nation suffering under cultural genocide. Which is disregarded as an issue settled force, during what is incorrectly termed, the Civil War. Opportunities to resolve the issue lawfully, peacefully and honorably are rejected even by our own people, as viable plans and strategies are ignored. Until once more the true believers in Confederate States patriotism and nationalism fade into the background, departing the modern Confederate movement desperately seeking other options. It is at this juncture that history takes a drastic turn, caused by far to many good men, doing to precious little to resolve those issues critical to our just and honorable cause. Join with us now as we enter the world of The Gray Warrior Leader.
On extremely rare occasion the Almighty God injects himself into the affairs of man, often in the form of the birth of a man child. When this happens such a man is touched by divine hand of God from his birth. Like Moses being born of slaves, yet raised in the house of Pharaoh, Such a man child was Melton Jefferson Davis, later to be known simply as 'Mel.' Melton Davis was born among the poorest of the poor, in the slums of Atlanta, and grew into boyhood playing in the dirt along with other boys his age. But as he continued to grow there were times when his mother would find him gazing off into nowhere, as if day dreaming. Once his daddy asks of him, "Mel, you gaze into space as if you see something! What is it son, what stirs your heart so much?" Mel in his still boyish ways replied: "Daddy I see my destiny!" While Mel was extremely intelligent, he was also highly principled and appeared as if he were a throw back to another time. One could imagine him in manhood charging across the battlefields of the War for Confederate Independence, at the head of a Confederate Army.
Mel far exceeded his classmates in scholastic achievements and carried out investigations into the historical record, on his own. In the process he found his life's work in the stories of the great Confederate Generals. He studied every possible facet of their lives, their war records and tactics. As he entered his teen years and other boys his age were engrossed in the popular music and the culture of the day, Melton Davis persuades his studies. His eyes would light up as he read of the exploits of the various Confederate Generals throughout the war years. His face would sadden when he read of the final defeat and surrender of our Confederate Armies. When the opportunity presented itself he would ask questions on the history of the Confederacy and of the war, from those he felt were sufficiently informed and sympathetic. His questions and often debates centered on the tactics used and the surrender itself. "I wouldn't have surrendered" he was once heard saying!
Upon graduating from high school Melton Davis was pleasantly surprised to discover he had been offered a scholarship to a prestigious university, and was intent upon making application when word came of his being accepted as a cadet at West Point Military Academy. Mel had excelled in sports, concentrating on his favorite which was football, believing it was more combative. His high school coach was also a military reserve officer, and as such recognized in him the qualities and spirit of a great warrior. In addition Mel possessed an enormous commanding presence and charisma. This was particularly seen during school football games at the local stadium! His prowess on the field brought him praise, and numerous times the entire stadium of spectators would rise to their feet, even during his team’s initial entry. His sense of strategy and tactics as his team's star quarterback was the talk of the town.
Mel's parents were humble people of average intelligence and of meager resources. He was a likeable young man who socialized easily with others, but not even his own parents could have imagined the course his life would take, by the Divine Providence of Almighty God. Still he was a son who had made his parents happy and proud! The little boy who had played in the dirt in the slums of Atlanta was now going off to West Point where he would begin his life's journey, culminating in his altering history for all time. Mel did well at West Point, becoming a star football player and graduating at the top of his class. Where upon he received the assignment which he had wanted very much, the Army's Special Forces School, considered the elite forces, the cream of the crop. Upon completion, Lieutenant Melton J. Davis soon experienced his first combat experience with the invasion of Panama under President Ronald Ragan. He was among those assigned to secure the Airport and prevent Dictator General Manuel Noriega from escaping. More then everything else, he not only received the best instruction offered, but learned the art of war from those who had fought the Vietnam War. He became a committed believer, that there is no substitute for victory!
The Outbreak of War
A few years later as Major Melton J. Davis would command a company of Special Forces troops in Germany. This entire division of which he was part, was undergoing additional training exercises in preparation for possible air lifting to Saudi Arabia, should Saddam Hussein's army crossed the Kuwaiti border. They would be only a small faction of a massive force being assembled by allied nations in opposition to Iraq. A war which would later be known as the First Iraq War, where Mel's company was dropped behind enemy lines to take out an hardened and reinforced bunker supply dump deemed to impractical a target to be taken out from the air. While the war was relatively short as wars go, troops and armor continued to pour into the war zone. One mission passed into the next and Mel not only brought home victories, but he did so at an exceedingly low casualty rate. The number of Mel's medals and commendations mounted, as his promotions quickened until at War end he was well ahead of others of his West Point Class. He returned home as a newly promoted Colonel, and the youngest in the Army, not-with-standing the chest full of medals, which he had won during combat operations in two different wars. His next assignment upon returning home was the Army War College, where he would be place in line for promotion to star rank.
After a year at the War College and an assignment to the Pentagon, Melton J. Davis became the youngest four Star General in the Army, as well as the youngest to hold a seat on the Joint Chief's of Staff. His crowning military achievement outside of the war years was his selection as Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is not possible in such a brief chronology on Melton Jefferson Davis, to do justice to his rapid climb from stark poverty to such lofty heights. However Mel Davis never lost the essence of himself in vainglory, for he was by his very nature a hands on warrior and commander. Deep within his own heart he knew that all which had happen thus far, was only prefatory to his true life's mission. He was quite aware there was still more to come, and he felt a divine hand guiding his course in life. There had always been a part of Mel of which no one had knowledge, save his parents who had since passed away, taking the secret to their graves. Mel's sympathies placed him in the category of being a Confederate States patriot and nationalist! He once commented to his father that ". . . if time travel were possible, he would return to The War and reverse its results." Little did he know he would be given the opportunity, not in the distant future but in the present time!
Hidden in Plain Sight
General Melton Jefferson Davis having been raised in poverty had been groomed in the art of politics and war in the very house of the Yankee Pharaoh. He had stood next to the President and walked in the halls of power! He was well known to every citizen, having been seen often on television numerous times, including ticker tape parades in cities and towns across the land. There had even been talk of him seeking the Presidency! While he had never reveled precisely where he stood on political issues, however who knew him best were quite aware of his true nature. They had a pretty good idea that something very special burned deep inside this man, whom they called general and friend. General Davis was courted by both major political parties and could have literally written his own ticket for a full blown campaign representing either major party. Indeed, it was expected that were an election held today and Mel Davis were a candidate, it would have been the greatest lopsided victory in electoral history. Some were even saying that no man since George Washington has held favor with the people as well as possessing such commanding presence.
However as Mel Davis rose to prominence he became an extra-ordinary visionary and organizer, having travel extensively in behalf of the Armed Forces. He was known to be able to rally powerful people about him, whenever and wherever he chose! As he reached star rank he had already began to notice certain trends in society, which he believe were totally appalling. He decided that if conditions ever warranted, he would definitely want to be in a position whereby he could take drastic and decisive action, if that became necessary. Therefore over the years he formed a kind of brotherhood or an alliance, based upon his true sympathies and termed it The Majestic Alliance. This was his way of playing upon the Conspiracy Theorists and their rumors of a super secret order called the Majestic Twelve. The good general would often travel worldwide, but particularly throughout Europe and Asia, making diplomatic gestures in behalf of the United States on military matters, supposedly to reinforce the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (N.A.T.O) as well as the Pacific Military Alliance in Asia.
Given the generals enormous intelligence, talents and skills he was even able to forge what amounted to a private military force, which answered to him alone. But unlike the well known militias, this army was well organized, professionally trained, experienced as well as having the best support base of any armed force upon earth. What General Melton J. Davis had successfully accomplished he carried out without raising suspicion or drawing any undue attention, that of quite literally rebuild the Confederate States Armed Forces. All the necessary bases, equipment and support staffs and material were readied and put in place. The Supreme Headquarters for his modern Confederate States Armed Forces would be McClellan Air Force Base. General Davis had even arranged duplicity of Uniforms and Insignias for his unseen armed forces. On the political front Mel had made all right contacts and done the research necessary, in order to recreate the Confederate States Government on quick notice, including having arranged for a three years budget pending independence and the restoring of stability. All was in waiting for the right moment, and an incident which would put his plan into action!
Open Opposition to Tyranny
Then an event occurred which would alter the course of Mel's life! Several States had passed what was termed the Articles of Nullification based upon the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution. The principle was described as the sovereign right of the individual States to govern over all domestic affairs within their own borders. That only those powers voluntarily loaned to the federal government and specifically enumerated in the Constitution, were to be exercised by them. The Articles of Nullification specified several areas of law and adjudication which were described as having been usurped and therefore outside the perimeters of the constitution. Among the several items mention were abortion, the so called 'separation of church and state issue' and the federalization of State Armed Forces, outside a Declaration of War or threat of imminent attack upon the nation. However the Articles of Nullification's true intent was clearly to retire to the individual States, the power of sovereignty and self governance within their own borders.
The undersigned States were prepared to enforce the provisions of the Articles of Nullification by placing any federal agent under arrest, should they interfere. The issue was enjoined when the State of Alabama by order of it's newly elected and inaugurated governor, having issued a warrant for the arrest of five federal agents, who had called for him to cease and desist or face arrest himself. The question came down to who was going to arrest whom! As it turned out the federals were placed under arrested by the State Police, upon their issuance of a warrant upon the governor. The President's feeling was that General Melton Davis being extremely popular, could resolve the issue without undo or severe consequences. Thus Mel was placed in command of 5,000 troops who were to cease the Alabama State Capital at Montgomery and to bring those responsible into custody. Upon arrival Mel decided to approach the governor in his office separately, while his troops stood by across the street and on all sides of the building. Upon exuding the State Capital Building General Davis gave a surprising order. He ordered his troops to take up positions on the sidewalk adjacent to the building and to resist by force if necessary, any attempt to interfere with State Officer in the performance of their official duties.
Then General Davis read a prepared statement regarding the oath of allegiance he had foresworn as an Officer. That he would protect and defend the Constitution and obey the orders of the President. "These two items" he stated, "now stand in direct conflict with each other! Should I obey the President in this case, I would be violating him Constitution. These States are sovereign within a Voluntary Union of States, that the foundations of this Republic rest with the individual States themselves, rather then an imperial federal government. The inalienable rights of the individual States and thereby the citizens thereof, were grossly violated when the Southern States were force into abandoning the new nation which they had created, in favor of a forced return to this union. Now they are again violated by being forced to obey the federal government, regardless of the constitutionality of any federal action taken. This cannot continue! Therefore I am hereby calling for all liberty loving citizens to stand behind me on this issue, as we together restore free, as well as limited and restrained constitutional government. All public officials must be quite literally, required to obey the oath to which they have sworn. We now begin with these Articles of Nullification, of which they shall be required to adhere!"
General of the Confederate Armies
The mass media made sure the news of the events in Montgomery were heard and seen around the world. Within hours State National Guard commands across the nation were called to active duty, and without any fanfare the term 'National Guard' was dropped in across the Southland. The new title State Armed Forces was then instituted! And without hesitation the top generals and admirals of the federal Armed Forces strongly advised the President against the use of force. Late that afternoon, General Melton J. Davis stood upon the Star located on the top landing of the Statehouse in Montgomery, wearing a modern and up to date yet distinctively Confederate States Military Uniform. On cue a convoy of military truck transports approached and surrounded the capital building as relief troops disembarked. They wore the normal camouflage uniform, but bore the marking and emblems of the Confederate States of America. Immediately a color guard marched up the walkway and raised the Confederate States national flag, also known as the Blood Stained Banner.
The now General Melton Jefferson Davis, C.S.A. stepped before the microphones to addressed the world press. "It is regretful these drastic actions have become necessary, and it is hopeful this situation can be resolved without bloodletting. It has been approximately 147 years since the surrender of our Confederate States Armies. However in order to ensure the safety and security of our citizens, I have ordered the recall and muster for duty, of the Confederate States Armed Forces. All Officers have already or are in the midst of reporting to fill their billets, and all Commanders are assuming command of their units. We now have sufficient fire-power to defend ourselves against any aggressive moves made against us! Thus I offer the olive branch of peace, that we might settle our differences at the conference table, rather then on the field of battle. Additionally, the Confederate States Government even as we speak, is taking their seats in Richmond Virginia, from whence they were driven so many years ago. The eyes of incredible military power are upon the Pentagon and the Capital City of Washington, they are strongly urged not to attempt the use of force. If they should choose this course, they will be dealt with accordingly! Thank you very much!"
The U.S. President like his predecessor Abraham Lincoln was not at all prepared to see the Union dissolved, nor the States to defy a federal mandate without using whatever means at his disposal to prevent it from happening. He called on his new Secretary of Defense to activate the Michigan National Guard or anyone else he deems appropriate under these circumstances, which we might be depended upon. The President's orders were quite explicit: "I want 20,000 loyal and well armed troops landing in Montgomery within 36 hours to arrest the perpetrators." It was obvious the President held out hopes the general's speech was merely a boast, that perhaps he only commanded a much smaller force. But his intelligence was not precise, and the Confederate General's muster already listed half a million, and growing; thirty thousand of which were already in the Montgomery area by this time, sixty five percent of which had switch their loyalty from the U.S. to C.S. When the several State Armies and Militias were added to the equation, the good general commanded a formidable force. Additionally, foreign capitals were already urging restraint on the side of the United States.
General Mel Davis had by some miracle forged a massive military force, which spread across 28 of the 48 continental States. He had acted brilliantly by making certain, every military installation in these effected States were under Confederate control from the beginning. Save for a super fortress in the Southwest and the Air Force Command at Cheyenne Mountain which he would deal with at the appraise time, but for now he had managed to isolate them from the outside world. North Carolina having an abundance of forces, volunteered a full division for duty in Virginia and another in Georgia. Tennessee volunteered a full division for duty in Kentucky, due to it's being a border State. Still, when at dawn's early light the next morning, the entire Southland was an armed camp. The general's own estimates would later indicate the odds were two to one in men, equipment as well as tactical positioning.
The Confederates had another weapon in their arsenal, which the general was holding as his ace; that being a new weapon known simply as a Pulsating Magnetic Airburst Bomb. If exploded over a major city or enemy combat forces it would do precious little if any damage, but it would play havoc upon any electronic equipment below. Thus he could effective render their forces deaf, dump and blind; A little gift from his Majestic Alliance Brethren. As a result of a highly secret research team which had been created years ago for this very purpose, to create special none lethal weapons. Additionally both the Pacific and Atlantic Naval Fleets were approximately 65 percent under Confederate Control and had positioned themselves to aid the Confederacy, should their assistance be needed. General Melton Davis was now in possession a full report on his available forces, and their positions. He believed both the time and circumstances favored the cause!
Vindicating the Confederate Cause
While events were unfolding in Montgomery the federals were approaching a landing in several other Southern States, including Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Georgia. In Richmond Virginia the Confederate States Government had already been seated, sworn into office and passed the Proclamation of Independence into law, as well as the re-commissioning of the Confederate States Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The newly created Confederate States Air Force was commissioned in the same piece of legislation. The new Confederate States Senate had in like manor confirmed the President's Cabinet, including the Secretary of War. These pieces of emergency legislation were passed and sent immediately to the Interim President, President George Randolph Calcurry. The Confederate States Government then decided upon a temporary and tactical move to a location where adequate facilities were readily available, rather then attempt to double space with the Virginia State Government. The new location chosen was Tallassee Florida!
The original and now unused ole Florida State Capital Building had since been refurbished to its original condition, and was offered as a suitable place from which to conduct the nation's business. Office space was available nearby, so on the second day after leaving Richmond, the opening gavel went down for continuing the first secession of the modern day Confederate States Congress, within this most historic Capital Building, which served during The War years. Meanwhile in choosing to attack the five Deep South States, the U.S. President felt that in bringing them under subjection, the others would fall into line. Thus the Yankees had by-passed the States of Virginia, Florida and the other Southern States, particularly given the severe reduction in the size of their own Armed Forces. A reaction was not far in coming, for immediately upon landing heavy fire-fights broke out between the U.S. and C.S. forces across these five States. In every case these modern day Blue Bellies discovered they were far out matched, but regretfully this piece of wisdom came only after enormous and needless bloodletting. Meanwhile in Tallassee the business of government continued as bills were passed which would serve to commission the newly updated Confederate States Monetary Systems. There would be a mandated gold and silver backing, but graduated into place over a number of years.
There were eleven predominantly mid-western States which joined the Confederacy; however they did so in the status of commonwealths. The historic territories, now the States of Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma were quickly admitted as the 14, 15 and 16th States of the Confederacy. The State of West Virginia petitioned to merge with Virginia proper, thus the two would rejoin the Confederacy as a single State. The West Virginians felt this action would give them more influence in the Confederate States Government, the two being a single larger State. This they believed would also serve to correct, what was considered the unconstitutional manor in which they had separated from Virginia and entered the Union. The coming of 2009 found it was now possible to hold national elections for a permanent Confederate States Government. This would confirm the Second Confederate States President and the Third Confederate States Congress. After the defeat of five Union Armies in five different Confederate States, the U.S. President decided the situation could not be decided by force of arms.
Summation
In the end the Yankees defeat was caused by far more then the genius of a single general, but that the people themselves had merely walked away from the empire. In addition to our Confederate Armies, many civilians sacrificed themselves, for the sake of independence. Thanks to the growing stockpile of non-lethal weapons the casualty rate while high, was a fraction of what it otherwise would have been. The Yankee Empire had suffered 73,000 dead and 871,000 wounded, the Confederate dead numbered 157,000 and 1,281,000 wounded, many of whom were civilians. Still it must be understood; the Confederates suffered a greater loss, simply because the battles were for the most part, within the territory of the Confederacy. However, results of the various battles were so final, the United States had no choice but to accept an unconditional surrender, on whatever terms General Milton J. Davis, now President of the Confederate States of America might choose to offer. There would be reparations demanded to compensate for the years of war, occupation, subjugation and cultural genocide. Much of this came in the form of lands, facilities, critical technologies, as well as gold and silver. All lands and property confiscated as a result of the original War for Confederate Independence, was reclaimed in behalf of the citizens of the Confederacy.
The withdrawal of all remaining federal forces, federal judges, marshals and agents from the Southland came swiftly thereafter. The United States Armed Forces had been reduced to approximately a third their former size in nearly every category. The benefactor of course was the Confederacy! While those people retain sufficient military strength for self defense, never again would the Yankees amass the power to dominant another people. On mid-morning of Thursday 9 April after several years since the Acts of Nullification crisis began, an official military delegation from the United States met with members of the newly appointed Confederate States General Staff, commanded by General Adam Johnston. The Confederates demanded a return to Appomattox Courthouse, whereupon documents were signed having the effect of declaring the so called 'Civil War' to have been an unlawful, unconstitutional and an aggressive invasion of a foreign nation. Thereby effectively voiding the surrender of our Confederate Armies!
That same afternoon the newly elected President Melton Jefferson Davis stepped before the world press and declared "This day shall be known as Independence Day throughout the Confederate States of America. Let it be celebrated henceforth with festivity and merry making throughout the land; this according to the finest traditions of our history, heritage and culture." It was immediately afterward that two squadrons of Confederate States Air Force fighter aircraft flew in formation overhead, having very distinctive battle markings. President Milton Jefferson Davis later stated: "I am not related to our famous founding father and President Jefferson Davis. However it would have been good had he lived to see this day, none-the-less I can't help but believe, he somehow knew it would come. Beyond any doubt, he had 'fought a good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith.' Our First President and his lovely wife the First lady were exemplary and honorable citizens of this Confederacy, and I can only strive to maintain the high standards which they have set before us"
God save the Confederacy
